CompTIA has Established a Strategic Partnership with Certiport

Post Time: April 13th,2010
CompTIA, the leading provider of vendor neutral skills certifications and certificates for the world’s information technology workforce, has established a strategic partnership with Certiport, the leading provider of test delivery services for the global workforce and academic markets.

This news was announced on April 8. With Certiport’s strength of expansive distribution network, the collaboration will help to advance delivery of the CompTIA Strata IT Fundamentals test through Certiport’s network of over 10,000 centers in 142 countries worldwide.

CompTIA Strata IT Fundamentals certificate programs offer individuals a broad introduction to computing technology and serve as a stepping stone to advanced technical learning and IT skills. The test aims to measure an individual’s knowledge of basic IT technology and skills, such as setting up a basic PC work station and installing software. Complementing Certiport’s Internet and Computing Core Certification, it helps users lay a foundation and transition naturally to the CompTIA exam.

For CompTIA, therefore, the partnership will not only increase product value to customers, but also promote potential growth with an increase in the global distribution, delivery, and the ability to more quickly penetrate new geographies and markets.

"For years, both Certiport and CompTIA have worked in parallel in the IT careers industry," said Todd Thibodeaux, president and chief executive officer, CompTIA. "By leveraging the unique capabilities of each organization, we’re better able to deliver solutions to benefit students looking forward to careers in IT, individuals transitioning to our industry from careers and organizations seeking to upgrade the skill sets of their employees."

For Certiport, it will augment its addressable market and growth potential, and will further diversify Certiport’s company portfolio setting the stage for future business.

"This is a game changer for Certiport, our partners and our customers,” said Ray Kelly, chief executive officer, Certiport. “As leaders in this space, Certiport and CompTIA have a strong commitment to provide individuals with the information and digital skills necessary to thrive in the 21st century. This groundbreaking partnership will ensure that thousands of academic institutions can offer those fundamental skills to students worldwide.”

The CompTIA Strata IT Fundamentals exam will be delivered by Certiport, starting from July, 2010, to worldwide test takers in multiple regions and in multiple languages, allowing a broad range of students to prove their technology knowledge and skills.
